New London hosts home track meet
Tigers take fifth in both boys and girls team standings

NEW LONDON — New London High School hosted the 2021 Chris Selby Invitational on Tuesday night, a coed meet with six schools present.
The Tiger boys team scored 96 points, fifth best out of the six teams. The Tiger girls scored 40 points to take fifth place, too.
The New London boys had four wins on the day. Two of them came from Carter Allen. Allen dominated the throwing events once again, hurling the discus 169 feet, 10 inches, and the shot put 49 feet, 5½ inches to become a double-winner.
The Tiger boys had just one individual win on the track. Seth Bailey won the 800-meter run in 2:06.30.
The New London boys 4x200-meter relay team picked up a win. The quartet of Boden Pickle, Torren Riley, Rylan Martin and Josh Catala took the top spot in 1:34.88.
The Tiger boys had three second-place finishes. Catala took second in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 22.73 seconds. Bailey finished second in the 1600, with a time of 4:39.94. The weight man relay team of Kaiden Fitzpatrick, Brody Butterbaugh, Allen and Brody Hesser finished second, in 55.54 seconds.
The New London girls didn’t scoop up a win, but they did pick up one second-place finish. The 4x800 team of Paris Wilka, Tysann Gipple, Brooklyn Curry and Aliyah Christensen took second, in 11:45.30.
