New London knocked out in regional duals

LISBON - The New London wrestling team was eliminated by Alburnett in the first round of the regional duals in Lisbon on Tuesday night. The Tigers fell 60-17 to end their dual season, though a handful of New London wrestlers will still be competing in the individual district tournament on Saturday.
New London drew first blood when Dominic Lopez pinned Alburnett's Luke Schneider at 145 pounds. The Pirates took the next two, but Boden Pickle picked up the Tigers' second pin, at 170 pounds, to tie the dual up at 12-12.
Alburnett took control from 182-113, where the Pirates outscored New London 30-0. Marcel Lopez ended Alburnett's run when he picked up a technical fall at 120 pounds.
Alburnett's lead was 42-17 after the 12-pound match, but the Pirates won the last three matches via forfeit.
Alburnett's run would end later that night, as the Pirates were bounced 69-12 by Lisbon.
