New London knocks off Hillcrest

NEW LONDON - Two Union area teams, New London and Hillcrest Academy, met up for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference shootout showdown on Friday night. The Tigers held home court and picked up a point for the South Division, winning 56-48. Overall, the South Division won the shootout 6-3.
New London led 17-10 after one period, 35-25 at halftime and 49-41 after the third quarter.
Grant Swanson, Blaise Porter and Kade Benjamin all reached double-digits for the Tigers. Swanson went for 16 points, nien rebounds and five blocks. Porter had 15 points, eight assists, five steals and five blocks, and Benjamin finished the night with 12 points.
Demontae Watkins and Devon Swanson each scored fiv epoints. Torren Riley had three.
Hillcrest was led by Eli Ours, scored 19 points and dished out four asssists. Kobe Borntrager had 14 points. John Hughes scored seven points. London Schrock had four. Drew Blauvelt scored two, and Aaron Hersberger finished the night with two points and seven rebounds.
