New London No. 7 in new wrestling rankings

IAWrestle.com released its weekly boys wrestling rankings for both teams and individuals this week. The area is well represented with one ranked team, and a handful of ranked wrestlers.

The top team in the area is New London. The Tigers ranked No. 7 in Class 1A, the only Union area coverage team to find a place in the team rankings. The Tigers have three ranked grapplers.

Three-time state champion Marcel Lopez still is ranked No. 1 at the 126-pound weight class. Junior Dominic Lopez sits at No. 3 in the 152-pound weight class, and fellow junior Josh Glendening is ranked No. 6 at 182.

WACO has two ranked wrestlers in Class 1A, as senior Josh Clark is ranked sixth at 220 pounds, and freshman Louden Huisenga is ranked No. 10 at Class 145.

Mid-Prairie has a pair of ranked wrestlers in Class 2A, both seniors. Cael Garvey is ranked No. 2 at 195 pounds, and Cannon Callahan is No. 12 at 285 pounds.

Other ranked wrestlers include Washington’s Aaron Boone, who sits at No. 11 at Class 2A 113 pounds, Highland’s Easton Schlabaugh, who is No. 6 at Class 1A 120 pounds, and Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union/Lone Tree’s Lane Scorpil, who sits at No. 2 in Class 2A 120 pounds.
