ELDON - The New London basketball teams picked up two Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division wins in Cardinal on Tuesday night. The Tiger girls ran past the Comets 58-26, and the New London boys won 75-57.
The Titer girls scored consistently throughout the night, putting up double-digit points in every quarter. New London led 28-15 at halftime and 43-19 after three quarters.
It was another big night for New London's Marah Hartrick, who scored 26 points on 10-for-16 shooting the ball. She also poured in five 3-pointers.
Ashlyn McSorley scored 13 points and led New London with seven assists. Natalie Burden had 10 points. Keaura Williams finished with six points and 11 rebounds. Emma Hartrick scored two points and Sophie Mallot had one.
It was Cardinal's first loss in the last three games. The Comets went into Tuesday night looking for their third win in five days after knocking off Holy Trinity, 37-33, and Moravia, 29-22, over the weekend.
The New London boys had their second-straight strong outing to keep the Cardinal boys winless in the South Division. New London received a monster night from the sophomore duo of Blaise Porter and Kade Benjamin. Porter dropped 30 points in the win, and Benjamin added 26. Devon Swanson scored 10 points to give the Tigers three players in double digits.
