NEW LONDON — Not a lot is going to change for New London volleyball this fall.
While the Tigers did graduate four seniors, which includes Aliyah Christensen, Paris Wilka, Bailey Hanson and Saige Barron, they bring a lot back as well.
Christensen will be missed on the offensive side of the net, finishing with 355 assists, good enough for second most on the squad.
The good news is team assist leader Elly Manning returns for her senior season. Manning lead the assist column with a team high 377 on the year.
In the kills department, the Tigers are doing just fine as four of the top five return in 2022.
Senior Natalie Burden will likely see the brunt of the kill opportunities. Burden racked up 342 kills on 1,092 attempts last year, both team highs.
Junior Sophie Malott followed with the second most kills. She ended with 197 on the year.
Fellow junior Tysann Gipple had 87 and senior Camryn Lair finished with 75.
The Tigers have a lot of weapons to chose from on the offensive side of things.
Looking at the defensive side, it’s much of the same.
Senior Emma Nye is back on the roster. Nye was New London’s leader on the defensive end, finishing with a total of 655 digs on the year.
Following Nye in that category was Burden with 354. Malott is the next returner with the highest dig total. She ended with 311. Manning also had 265 digs as well.
Nye also led the Tigers in attempted serves and aces. Out of her 396 serves attempted, 67 of them were aces. Burden and Malott were the next highest with 46 and 40.
With much of their talent returning this season, the Tigers are set to compete at the top of the division once again this fall.
