New London, WMU show down on the golf course

WINFIELD — There was a Henry County showdown at Twin Lakes Golf Course on Friday as Winfield-Mount Union hosted New London for a coed golf meet. The WMU boys edged the Tigers 180-181. The New London girls scored 200, and the Lady Wolves did not have enough players to score.
The WMU boys used four players below 50 to scoop up the team victory. Brady Loyd, Jacob Kongable and Bryce Wade all shot 44, and Seth Schurr finished at 48.
The Wolves’ non-scorers weren’t too far back. Carter Loyd and Isaac Schurr each finished the day at 50.
New London’s Clayton Phillips continued to dominate this year, winning the meet by nine strokes. He finished the day at an even-par 35.
The next New London boy down the list was Mason Shelledy, who finished the tournament at 46. Ethan Streeter ended the day at 49.
Wyatt Miller scored a 51 to become the fourth Tiger scorer. Dustin Nehring shot a 47, and Weston Miller ended the day at 59.
New London’s Taylor Phillips and Emma Nye both finished under 50 on the girls side. Phillips won medalist honors with a 44, and Nye was four shots back, at 48.
Dorie Rice rolled a 54 for New London. Sophie Mallott finished at 57, and Sage Barron ended the day at 58.
The WMU girls were led by Ava Hagge, who ended the day at 57. Isabel Kann shot a 59 and Alli Humphreys finished at 81.
