New London wrestlers fall on road

BURLINGTON - The New London wrestlers fell on the road on Thursday night against Notre Dame/West Burlington/Danville. The Tigers dropped the dual 42-30.

New London took an early 3-0 lead with a 4-2 decision win for Marcel Lopez. Notre Dame responded with five wins in a row, all by forfeit, to take a 30-3 lead.

New London began to battle back in the middle weights. Jardin Mufaume picked up a first-period pin in the 145 lbs. match. After a double forfeit at 152 lbs., the Tigers won three in a row.

Currey Jacobs won via pinfall in the first period of the 160 lbs. match. Gabe Carter won on an 8-6 decision in the 170 lbs. match, and Gavin Holmes picked up a pin, in 3:38, in the 182 lbs. match. At that point, the Tigers trailed 30-24.

New London had to forfeit at 195 lbs. Jaxon Allen had the quickest pin of the night at 220 lbs., winning in just 36 seconds to cut the lead to 36-30. ND/WB/Danville pulled out the win at 285 lbs., with a pin by Drake Fox.
