New London wrestling hosts Jeremy Fulk Classic
Mid-Prairie, WACO and New London all compete in the Tigers’ tournament

NEW LONDON — New London wrestling hosted the annual 2023 Jeremy Fulk Classic over the weekend and it turned out to be a great tournament for a trio of area squads.
Mid-Prairie, WACO and New London were the three Union area teams to compete, along with Cedar Rapids Washington, B-G-M, Brooklyn and Lone Tree.
Mid-Prairie was the highest area finished, placing second with 159 points. WACO ended in third with 123.5 and the host Tigers were fourth with 110.
Cedar Rapids Washington won the tournament with 177.5 points.
The second-place Golden Hawks had two winners on the day. Burke Berry was a winner at 285 and Trevyn Riley took the crown at 106.
Dalton Miller (126), Peyton Fox (144), Brock Fisher (215) and Quinn Callahan (285) all placed second in their weight classes.
In third for the Golden Hawks were Blake Malichky (120), Parker English (113), Max Howe (132), Tucker Miller (138), Will Snider (150) and Jarron Thomas (190).
The Golden Hawks lone fourth-place finisher was Josh Turner (175) and Damian Vasquez (144) placed fifth.
For WACO, John McLaughlin was a champion at 126 and Louden Huisenga took the title at 190.
Gage Samo (120), Cylas Elder (157) and Kale Warren (165) were all second-place finishers.
Tommy Unternahrer was the Warriors lone third-place finisher. Unternahrer wrestled at 215.
Braxton Stauffer (150), Traic Bird (215 and John Stauffer (285) all placed fourth.
Brawk Sterna (190) and Deacon Bird (138) were fifth. Kaden Leichty (132), Lane Cachman (144) and Sam Eichelberger (190) placed sixth.
New London had four first-place finishers on the day.
Michael Raines (165), Corbin Jacobs-Jewell (144), Gage Burden (132) and Kane Forseen (120) all picked up tournament wins.
Killian Kelly was New London’s lone second-place finisher at 150.
Other finishers for New London were Riley Raines in third at 144 and Gavin Menke-Bailey fourth at 138.
