New Panther lineup opens tonight at non-district Clear Creek-Amana

Mt. Pleasant football?s Head Coach Bob Jensen will put mostly inexperienced players on the field tonight, many of whom will be starting a varsity game for the first time.

The team opens its season on the road, and will once again face non-district opponent Clear Creek-Amana in game one.

Last season against Clear Creek-Amana, the Panthers lost 28-20.

?We were down 21-0 early and came back, but we couldn?t pull it out,? Jensen said.

This season, Jensen has nearly a whole new team.

?I expect us to make mistakes, and be a little jittery,? Jensen said. The team can stay in the game, he added, but they will have to take care of the football, not turn it over.

The Panthers have only three returning starters: senior defensive end and tight end Blake Vandenberg; offensive tackle and defensive end Nick Lyon, and junior kicker Liam Clancy.
