NEW LONDON - The New London girls' basketball team had a tough task on Thursday night, hosting West Burlington in a SEISC South Division game. The Falcons held the Tigers to single digits in each of the four quarters and ran away with a 60-19 win.
The Tigers trailed by just three points, at 10-7, after one quarter, but West Burlington put up 14 points in the second quarter and led 24-12 at halftime.
West Burlington outscored New London 20-3 in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 44-15. They continued to put up points in the fourth quarter, winning it 60-19.
Layney Loyd scored seven points to lead New London in the loss. Marah Hartrick had six. Kara Krieger scored four, and Addie Pry had two.
New London fell to 2-14 on the year. They'll play WACO, a team they lost to by one point in December, in a road game on Saturday, Feb. 2.
