BURLINGTON - New London played in the best game of the night during Saturday's SEISC tournament, but the Tigers fell just short against Mediapolis.
New London staged a comeback after dropping the first set 25-15. The Tigers won the second set 25-16, and had set point in the third, but the Bullettes held on for a thrilling 17-15 win.
The Tigers entered the tournament as a two-seed from the Columbus pool earlier in the week. Mediapolis won the Central Lee pool to earn their spot.
Addie Pry led the hitters in the three-set loss. She had eight kills in 34 attack attempts. Kaylor Schulte had five kills. Peyton Jackson had three kills, and Paris Wilka had two.
Kristen Rohdy led the team with 16 assists, and had eight digs as well. Chloe Coleman had 10 digs to lead the way.
Coleman, Pry, Rohdy and Wilka all had one ace on the day. Both Coleman and Pry went 14-14 to lead the serving effort, and the Tigers finished a perfect 54-54 on the day.
Mediapolis was knocked out in the second round by Van Buren. The Warriors faced Holy Trinity in the tournament finals, where the Crusaders came out victorious.
