SOLON — Fairfield hit the road Friday night to take on No. 10 (Class 3A) Solon in a District 5 matchup.
The Spartans (6-2) proved to be too much as the Trojans (2-6) were defeated 61-19.
The previously No. 1 ranked team in the class came out with a vengeance after back-to-back losses.
Fairfield struggled to get anything going as the Spartan defense was suffocating, holding the Trojans scoreless through the first half.
Meanwhile, Solon’s offense found points in bunches in the early stages of the game.
Solon put up 20 points in the first quarter and added 28 more in the second to make it 48-0 at the half.
Fairfield never had an answer. Ethan Bisgard rushed for two touchdowns in the second half and Voss Richardson scored one as well, but it wasn’t enough to get back into it.
Bisgard led the Trojans with 88 yards and the two touchdowns on the ground. Zandrik Allison finished with 86 rushing yards and Luke Konczal ended with 45.
Richardson finished with 66 yards through the air and 21 on the ground with the one score.
On the receiving end, Dylan Adam finished with two catches for 36 yards. Bisgard and Allison each had a catch for 15 yards.
Luke Konczal led defensively with 12.5 tackles.
Fairfield will close its regular season on Friday, Oct. 25 at home against Grinnell.
