FT. MADISON - The 11th-ranked Mt. Pleasant girls' soccer team had their undefeated season squandered on Thursday evening when they lost their first game against Class 1A's No. 11 team, Holy Trinity. The Panthers scored first but couldn't hold onto the lead, eventually falling 3-1.
Kaela Welcher opened up the scoring with an unassisted goal in the first half, but Holy Trinity equalized midway through the period. At the break, the two teams were tied at 1-1.
Holy Trinity had the wind advantage in the second half, and they used that to keep the pressure on Mt. Pleasant. The Crusaders scored two goals in the second half, and Mt. Pleasant couldn't capitalize on their chances.
Ayden Ross had eight saves in the loss. The Panthers fell to 1-5 overall on the season.
Mt. Pleasant will look to finish the first half of their Southeast Conference schedule on Monday, April 22. The Panthers will travel to Washington to play a much-improved Demon squad that sits at 1-1 in conference play.
