No. 2 New London continues to dominate

NEW LONDON - It was business as usual for the second-ranked New London football team on Friday night. The Tigers stayed undefeated in dominant fashion, 81-8 over Tri-County Thornburg.
New London led from start to finish and scored in every way imaginable. The Tigers led 57-0 at halftime and gave up just one score, a passing touchdown in the third quarter.
New London scored five times on the ground, with four different players finding the end zone. Markel Luckett had 56 yards and a touchdown on just one attempt to lead the rushing effort. Shae Summerfield had 55 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Johnson finished with 34 yards and two touchdowns, and Caydin Wahls scored on a nine-yard run.
Isaac McSorley only needed to throw five passes all day, and completed three of them. McSorley passed for 72 yards and two scores. Mason Porter caught two passes for 45 yards and a touchdown, and Darius Whaley had one catch for a 27-yard score.
The Tigers had three takeaways on the day and two of them went for touchdowns. Currey Jacobs scored on a 20-yard pick-six in the first half and Clayton Phillips had a 35-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second. Cayden Dudley had one fumble recovery.
Jacobs was electric on special teams. He returned just two kicks on the night, but both of them went for touchdowns, including the first play of the game. He ended the night with 131 kick return yards.
Ryan Richey had a return touchdown as well, coming on the punt return. Richey took one of his two returns to the end zone.
New London moved to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the district. They'll host Henry County rival Winfield-Mt. Union (1-5, 1-4) in their homecoming game on Friday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m.
