DANVILLE - There's no stopping the WACO train, at least not through 16 games. The now second-ranked Warrior boys dominated Danville on the road, 72-45, on Tuesday night. The girls were edged 46-39.
The WACO boys had their offense working early, as usual. The Warriors led 17-11 after one quarter and 38-24 at halftime.
The Warriors really ramped it up in the third quarter. WACO outscored Danville 20-6 in the third to put the game out of reach.
Nik Coble had another efficient night, leading the team with 21 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, six steals and five blocks. Elijeah McGohan and Pietro Vannini scored 11 points apiece. Braden Hammond finished with eight. Drew Kissell had seven. Dalton Diers had five. Kolton Connelly and Gabe Reichenbach had four each, and Taylor Sutton scored one.
The WACO girls were down by 10 points at halftime, but the Warriors cut the lead down to four points at the end of three. Danville led 39-35 with just eight minute remaining.
The Bears were able to pull away, though, in the fourth quarter. WACO was held to just four points in the final period.
Despite the loss, Morgan Graber had a great day, leading the game with 19 points. Ellah Kissel scored eight points and Molly McLaughlin scored six.
