Van Buren made quick work of Holy Trinity winning an 18-1 game in four innings Monday night in Keosauqua.

Van Buren made quick work of Holy Trinity winning an 18-1 game in four innings Monday night in Keosauqua.
The Warriors batted through the order nearly three times and scored 15 runs in the first inning.
Blake Scott started the game and went two innings before being relieved by Jacob Wolf and Thomas Fitzsimmons.
Scott was also 2-4 at the plate with four RBI, Mitchell Countryman hit a home run and drove in five, Jory Heckenberg and Chris Wilson blasted two more taters to finish with two RBI apiece and Caleb Millard drove in two more while going 2-2.
The third-ranked Warriors will pay a visit to West Burlington tonight.
Pekin splits twinbill at IMS
KALONA ? Pekin and IMS renewed their SEISC north division rivalry and played to a doubleheader split Monday night.
Josh Sterling dealt a 6-3 game one victory for the Panthers before IMS rebounded to take game two, 8-6.
The victory for Pekin was its second in 10 tries.
?We played hard and played competitive, and those are the things we?re trying to do heading into these last few weeks? said Pekin head coach Jeff Eeling.
Sterling gave up five hits and struck out four to earn the win in the opener as the Panthers back up their pitcher with a four-run second inning to answer an IMS run in the first.
Tater Clubb finished 2-4 with two runs scored at the top of the lineup while Bridger Wolcott went 2-3 with a home run and two RBI at the bottom in the win. Pekin outhit IMS 11-5 in the game.
In the nightcap, the Panthers once again held an advantage in hits and also drew 10 walks, but only pushed six runs across against a sound IMS defense.
Clubb stayed hot to go 3-3 with a double and an RBI, Derek Morales finished 2-3 and scored a run and Graham Wittrock and Wolcott drove in one more each.
Clubb pitched six innings, gave up six hits and struck out one, but was tagged with the loss.
The road stays rough for the Panthers who now have a trip to take on seventh-ranked Davis County in a JV-varsity doubleheader Wednesday night.
