No. 3 Washington boys have 1-1 road trip

The third-ranked (3A) Washington boys basketball team split games over the weekend. The Demonds defeated Clear Creek-Amana 52-39 on Saturday but dropped a game at No. 6 (2A) Williamsburg, 83-73, on Monday.
The Demons trailed early against Clear-Creek Amana but rallied to lead 24-17 at halftime and 37-30 after three quarters. Kasen Bailey put up 15 points in the win. Lucas Kroll had nine points and 14 rebounds, and Ethan Patterson added nine points of his own.
The Demons lost a shootout at Williamsburg. They led 19-18 after one quarter but Williamsburg poured in the points to take a 42-37 halftime advantage and lead 61-49 after three.
Patterson rained down eight 3-pointers against Williamsburg. He finished the night with 26 points. Bailey had 14, and Lance Sobaski finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Washington is currently 16-3 overall and 8-1 in Southeast Conference play. The Demons would wrap up the SEC title alone with a home win over Keokuk (4-14, 0-9) on Friday night.
