KEOKUK — The Washington boys basketball team continues to roll in 2022 with a Southeast Conference victory over Keokuk on Monday night, 65-49.
For most of the contest, it was a tight one.
Washington grabbed an early 13-8 lead after one and extended that lead with a 23-17 second to make it an 11 point game at the half, 36-25.
Keokuk came out fighting in the third, pulling within seven after outscoring Washington 14-10, but it’s the closest the Chiefs would come.
In the fourth, Washington had everything clicking. The Demons held Keokuk to 10 points, while putting together their second best scoring quarter of the evening, 20 points.
For the Demons, it’s their fifth straight win in a row. They continue to perform well in the new year, and after suffering their only loss of the season to conference foe and No. 1 ranked Fort Madison.
The victory moves Washington to 11-1 on the year.
