No. 4 Van Buren continues to roll

KEOSAUQUA - The fourth-ranked Van Buren County girls continued to dominate SEISC South Division opponsnets on Tuesday night. The Warriors shut down Holy Trinity at home, 66-17, in the girls game. The boys came up 10 points short, losing 59-49.
The Van Buren girls led 20-8 after one quarter and 36-15 at halftime. The Warriors held the Crusaders to just two points in the second half to roll to the 49-point victory.
Isabel Manning went off for 23 points and 10 rebounds int he win to lead the Warriors. Taryn Scheuermann scored 20 points and blocked eight shots.
Madison Bartholomew filled the stat sheet with eight points, nine steals and seven assists. Chloe Davidson scored five points. Grace Davidson had four. Ella Jirak scored three. Lexi Jirak and Kalyn Tuttle finished with one point.
The Van Buren boys led 10-9 after the first quarter and trailed 27-25 at halftime. Holy Trinity streched the lead to double-digits after outscoring Van Buren in the thrid quarter, and held on for the rest of the contest.
The Van Buren girls are now 7-1 overall and 6-0 in conference play. The boys are 2-4 overall and 1-4 in the SEISC South Division.
Van Buren will visit New London for a girl-boy doubleheader on Friday, Dec. 20.
