RIVERSIDE - Fifth-ranked Iowa Mennonite defeated Highland Thursday, 9-1
IMS scored 5 minutes into the match as Toby Chen took the ball into the box, struck it across the face of the goal and into the path of Jacob Boller who redirected the ball into the net. Louis Etienne added two first-half goals, finishing the night with three goals and one assist for his second consecutive game with a hat trick. Chen added two first half goals along with three assists. Jacob Boller netted the first of his two goals early in the second half and had an assist. Adding to the scoring were Brian Maren and Blake Bontrager, who picked up an assist from his goalie position on a long drop kick from the top of the box and added a goal after freed from his goalie position. Drew Blauvelt and Will Kolk each added an assist. Highland netted its goal with just over a minute left in the game.
The IMS defensive unit of Kobe Borntager, Eli Ours, Cody Jones and Dominic Bouse repeatedly shut down the Highland offense, limiting their chances.
IMS moves to 2-0 overally. IMS returns to action Monday hosting Notre Dame in a key SEISC match.
