NEW LONDON - For the first time since their state championship, the New London football team has fallen. Lone Tree was the culprit, upsetting the Tigers 48-42 in overtime.
The Lions scored first in the overtime and held the Tigers out of the end zone to hang on for a huge district win, one that knocked New London out of the ranks of the unbeaten.
Shae Summerfield put up huge numbers in the loss. He ran for 220 yards and two touchdowns. Markel Luckett ran for 76 yards and two touchdowns of his own.
Ethan Streeter went 6-13 for 93 yards and a touchdown. Blaise Porter caught five passes for 78 yards and a score.
Porter and Gavin Holmes co-led New London with 11 tackles apiece. Carter Allen finished with 10.5 tackles.
New London fell to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in district play. They'll hit the road to play Hartwick-Ladora-Victor this week.
