Demons hold on against Wolves for fifth straight win

MARION — Washington softball picked up its fifth straight victory on Friday night with a 8-5 win over Marion.
The No. 7 ranked Demons took an early one run lead, but later faced a two run deficit after the Wolves scored a trio of runs in the fourth.
Washington had the answers, scoring five of its own in the fifth and they would never give it up.
Marion pulled back within one, 6-5, an inning later, but the Demons added two additional runs in the seventh to seal it.
Leighton Salazar, Ella Greiner and Alyvia Anderson all had two hits in the win. Isabella Salazar ended with a team high three RBIs. Lauren Hinrichsen followed with two RBIs as well.
Isabella Salazar pitched a complete game, giving up seven hits, five runs (zero earned) with eight strikeouts.
With the win, the Demons improve to 17-4. Washington will take on Keokuk (7-8) on Monday.
