The offensive struggles for the Washington girls? soccer team continued on Tuesday afternoon.
The Demons were unable to put a goal on the board in their home contest against Keokuk, and fell 6-0 to the Chiefs.
The loss moves Washington to 0-5 on the season, and 0-2 in conference play.
?I hope they are bothered a little bit,? Washington girls? soccer head coach Kyle Collins said. ?They should be. When you get beat 5-0, 6-0, it?s not fun. They show it in practice, and they want to improve, but we just have to transition from practice, because they look like a totally different team there. I just have to find out what that secret ingredient is going to be to get them to flow on the field.?
The Demons fell behind early as Keokuk?s Paige Kayvan knocked in a goal in the second minute of the match.
The Chiefs? Brittney Love got in on the action in the 10th and the 12th minutes, putting in two goals for Keokuk, giving them an early 3-0 advantage.
Right before halftime, the Demons gave up a goal to Brooke Wade, who made it 4-0 in the 38th minute.
?The first half kills us,? Collins said. ?They are just not coming out ready to go. We have to get some warm-ups figured out or something, but the things we do should be getting them prepared. In the second half we are a totally different team, but we have to hold them off in the first half ? otherwise that second half is worthless.?
Two more Keokuk goals in the second half sealed the game, as Washington has now gone five halves of play without scoring a goal.
The Demons will look to right the ship on Thursday when they travel to take on Fort Madison at 5:30 p.m.
