The Washington softball team had their second-straight doubleheader against a Class 4A ranked opponent on Tuesday night, and couldn?t get their offense going.
The Demons were struck out 27 total times in the twinbill, leading to a 6-3, 9-0 doubleheader sweep from the Indians.
The losses move Washington softball to 2-10 on the young season, with another top-10 matchup with Mt. Pleasant waiting in the wings for Thursday.
The Demons turned six hits into three runs in the first game, with help from a one-out double from Kinsey Duwa in the first inning, who later came around to score on a Jessie Buchholz single.
In the fourth, Buchholz singled and scored on a Haylee Wilson single, while Brooke Stout doubled and scored in the sixth inning.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Demons mustered four hits in the game, leaving two runners on base in the fourth and seventh innings, but were unable to bring any runners home.
The Demons doubleheader at Mt. Pleasant will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
