Ours tosses no-hitter for Iowa Mennonite School

Eli Ours did it all for Iowa Mennonite School Tuesday.

IMS completed a game at Winfield-Mt. Union from earlier this season that was suspended due to lightning, winning 9-0.

Ours finished off the Wolves by not allowing a hit or a walk while striking out eight.

He also went 2 for 4 at the plate. teammates Jacob Boller and Blake Bontrager also had two hits apiece. Kobe Borntrager and Blake Bontrager each smacked a double.

With the win, IMS (11-7) secured second place in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division with an 11-3 mark. Mediapolis won the division at 12-2. Pekin was third at 10-4. Highland was fourth at 8-6.

Mid-Prairie 6, Northeast 0

For the second time in three days, the Mid-Prairie High School baseball team played a River Valley Conference game at the home of the Clinton River Kings.

Monday, the Golden Hawks blanked Northeast 6-0 with Brad Tornow getting the win for his three innings on the mound with seven strikeouts, no walks and no hits. Keegan Gingerich threw 2 1/3 innings with one hit, one walk and four K's. Monte Slabaugh tossed 1 2/3 innings with a hit and a strikeout.

Vinny Bowlin was hot at the plate for the Hawks, connecting on two doubles and a single for three RBI.

Mid-Prairie is 15-11 overall and 11-7 in the RVC.

Keota takes 2

The Eagles won two nonconference games at Winfield-Mt. Union Monday, 12-1 and 16-2.

In the 12-1 victory, Austin and Tyler Waterhouse combined on a five-inning one-hitter with 10 strikeouts but seven walks.

Austin Waterhouse led the way at the plate with a double and a triple in his three at-bats.

Colten Clarahan and Carson Sprouse combined on a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and three walks in the 16-2 triumph.

Sprouse helped the cause with two triples and a single.

Keota (15-5) starts the postseason Saturday at Iowa Mennonite School with a game against Pekin (13-8).

Highland 9, New London 6

The Huskies (12-10) trailed 6-3 after the fourth inning in the home game Tuesday, but scored two runs in the fifth and four in the sixth.
