WILLIAMSBURG — The soccer teams at Mid-Prairie have fared well this season, but both are currently on a losing streak after Thursday’s road matches against the Williamsburg Raiders.
Williamsburg’s girls stopped their own two-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over the visiting Golden Hawks. Mid-Prairie lost by the same score to Iowa City Regina Tuesday after a 7-0 win over Columbus Monday.
It took overtime for the fifth-ranked Class 1A Mid-Prairie boys to lose for the second time this season.
Tuesday the Golden Hawks scored first in a 6-2 loss to Iowa City Regina.
Thursday started the same way. The Hawks scored first when Jackson Pennington pocketed a goal with the help of a pass from Ethan Trimpe. It was still 1-0 at halftime.
The Raiders scored in the second half to even it up and got the overtime tally for the win.
Both Williamsburg teams are even on the ledger with the boys 6-6 and the girls 5-5.
Both Mid-Prairie teams host West Liberty Tuesday. The Mid-Prairie girls are 7-5 and West Liberty is 3-4. The West Liberty boys are ranked fourth with a 9-3 record.
Mid-Prairie’s boys are 7-2 with a home match against Highland (0-7) Monday.
