The Panthers used home runs from both Payton Walker and Ben Newton to power past the Indians, erasing a 3-2 deficit by scoring nine runs over their last four at-bats. It was the first homer of the year for both players.
Newton ended the day 1-for-3 with a solo homer and three RBIs. Walker was 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs.
Brayton Hutson went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and three runs scored. J.C. Sitar was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Zach Newton knocked in one run.
Ben Newton picked up the win on the mound, allowing four earned runs on four hits and one hit batter over four innings of work. He struck out four Clark batters. Payton Hagans struck out three batters and gave up just one earned run over three frames.
The Panthers are now 21-8 heading into the postseason. Mt. Pleasant will host Fort Madison in the Class 3A Substate 5 opener on Friday night.
