Panther bowlers swept by Keokuk

MT. PLEASANT - The Mt. Pleasant bowling teams hosted their first home meet of the year at Iris Bowling Center in Mt. Pleasant on Thursday. The first home meet was spoiled by the visiting Keokuk Chiefs who swept both contests.
Keokuk outscored Mt. Pleasant 2,810-2,194 in the boys standings, a difference of 616 pins. The Chiefs also bested the Panther girls, winning 2,790-1,874 for a difference of 916 pins.
Despite the loss, the Panther boys received another big outing from Levi Svoboda, who led the team by over 100 pins. He threw a 157 in Game 1 and a 213 in Game 2 to end up at 370.
Alec Payne was the second scorer for the Panther boys, finishing out at 269. Nolan Myers rolled a 260. Style Haeffner rolled a 257. Cade Yaley bowled a 256 and Justin Alldredge ended at 207.
Mt. Pleasant's boys baker games went 156, 157, 135, 161 and 173 for a grand total of 782.
Megan Smith paced the Panther girls with a 282. She threw a 159 in her first game and a 123 in her second. Eden Svoboda wasn't far behind her, finishing at 265.
Addison McGehearty ended the day at 255. Danielle Muhs rolled a 236. Morelia Elias ended the day at 223, and Kylie Alldredge rolled a 170.
The girls baker games went 139, 141, 107, 125, 101.
Mt. Pleasant coach Jerry Crouch said he saw improvement in both the boys' team and girls team, but added they have a ways to go.
The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday when they take part in a tournament at Muscatine.
