Panther boys golf wins at Notre Dame
Mt. Pleasant, Van Buren County finish one and two, Winfield-Mt. Union takes seventh

BURLINGTON — Mt. Pleasant has finished inside the top three in every golf meet thus far. On Tuesday in Notre Dame, the Panthers got over the hump, picking up their first victory of the season.
The Panthers were winners by nine strokes, 360, holding off Van Buren County, 369. Winfield-Mt. Union also competed in the meet. The Wolves were seventh place finishers with a score of 416.
Fort Madison, Davis County, Burlington Notre Dame, Wapello and Central Lee were also featured.
For the Panthers, Nick Matheney was the highest finisher. Matheney shot an 81 on the day, the second-best score in the competition. Reece Kempker ended his day with an 85. Reece Coffman ended with a 95. Nate Dismang had an 99. Izaac Zihlman shot a 122 and Ben Meador a 139.
Van Buren County’s TJ Jirak put together the lowest score in the invitational. Jirak’s 80 earned him the top spot. Riley Bruckman shot an 87 for the Warriors. Lukas McEntee finished with a score of 100. Dylan Richardson tallied a 102. Anthony Duncan had 103 and Aidan McEntee ended with 111.
The Wolves highest scorer was Carter Loyd. Loyd ended his day with a 95. Andrew Brown finished with a 105. Jake Edwards shot 107. Nick Crow chipped in 109. Isaac Schurr put together a 114. Griffin Humphreys scored a 122.
