Panther boys pin Chiefs

KEOKUK — The Mt. Pleasant boys wrestling team went into Keokuk and put a hurting on the hosting Chiefs in a Southeast Conference battle Thursday night.

The Panthers won every match except one in an SEC dual, putting 75 points on the scoreboard.

Mt. Pleasant had its fair share of pins on the day. Tucker French, Kaiden Shull-Sanders, Jaxsen Stuecker, William Birdsell and Lane Beckler all pinned their opponents, while Jefferson Avalos Ramirez, Keegan Birdsell and Ramzy Davis all won by technical fall.

The SEC win was all part of a triangular that also saw the Panthers pound Illini West, 78-6.

Mt. Pleasant’s girls also took on Keokuk and Illini West. The Panther girls fell in a tight one, 27-24, against the Chiefs, but won the cross-river showdown with Illini West 30-18.
