Panther boys tennis mops Mustangs

MT. PLEASANT - The Mt. Pleasant boys tennis team cruised to its first win of the season on Thursday. The Panthers, playing in their second meet of the year, doused Davis County 9-0.
Mt. Pleasant dominated every one of the singles matches, sweeping three and winning every one by five points or more.
David Nguyen scooped up an 8-2 victory over Davis County's Clayton McFarland in the No. 1 match. Owen Vansickel beat Davis County's Roman Combs 8-1 in the No. 2 match.
Levi Graber and Lincoln Henriksen each had an 8-0 sweep in the No. 3 and No. 4 matches. Graber took down Davis County's Jason Lee in the No. 3 match, and Henriksen beat Dean ragg in the No. 4 match.
Brian Huynh won the closest singles match of the night, defeating Davis County's Cayler Wuthrich 8-3. Jake Ensminger blasted Syrus Benge 8-0 in the No. 6 match.
The Panthers' No. 1 doubles team of Nguyen and Henriksen had to battle to the end, eventually beating Davis County's McFarland and Combs in a tiebreaker, 9-8(3). Vansickel and Ensminger won the No. 2 doubles match 8-2 over Lee and Bragg, and the No. 3 doubles team of Graber and Huynh won 8-2 over Wuthrich and Benge.
Mt. Pleasant is now 1-1 on the season. The Panthers will play in their first Southeast Conference match today (Monday) when they travel to Keokuk.
