Panther boys' tennis wraps up regular season with road win

With a sweep of the singles matches, the Mt. Pleasant boys' tennis team wrapped up its regular season with an 8-1 win on the road against Davis County.

The meet was a continuation of the May 5 meet in Mt. Pleasant which was postponed due to rain.

In the last three singles matches, Jack Bell, Peirce Lorenz and Chris Overton each picked up wins; Caleb Zimmerman, Jerad Ruble and Alex Spenner had already won their matches before the postponement.

Davis County's Kyle Graves and Park Micheals defeated Zimmerman and Ruble in a close, 10-7 doubles match but Spenner/Bell and Lorenz/Overton came back to defeat their opponents in both matches.

"It was a good way to end the regular season. [We had] one of the better team records for Mt. Pleasant boys' tennis and all of the credit [goes] to the players for their hard work," said coach Tyler Rodgers.

On the JV side, Anh Chau dropped the lone singles match to Austin Irwine, 6-0, while Davis County and the Panthers split the two JV doubles matches.

Mt. Pleasant (9-1) travels to Fairfield for the district tournament, starting tomorrow at 9 a.m.
