Panther boys win opener, others fall

His teammates were almost as efficient, and altogether the Panthers shot over 55 percent. Bryce Sines scored 10 points to go along with six boards and two blocks. Josh Sterling had nine points, Tater Clubb scored eight and Donovan added seven. Nate Buch dished out four assists.
Next up for the Panthers (1-0, 1-0 SEISC north) is a trip to IMS Friday.

Notre Dame 50, Van Buren 46
BURLINGTON ? Van Buren didn?t have enough down the stretch, and Burlington-Notre Dame escaped with a slim victory in both teams? season opener Tuesday.
The Warriors (0-1, 0-1) played from behind for much of the contest but grabbed a 37-36 lead with six minutes remaining. The SEISC foes went back and forth until the final moments, when the Nikes shut the door by making two free throws to solidify the win.
Elliott Remick scored a team-high 15 points, followed by Dalton Stine with 12 and Colin Weaver with 10 points. Blake Scott added seven points and Zach Boyd had two.
The Warriors will continue searching for their first win with a trip to Danville Friday night.
Danville 71, Cardinal 24
ELDON ? Steven Soukup scored 28 points for Danville and the Bears toppled Cardinal 71-24 to open the season.
A Danville lead that was 16-6 after one quarter turned into a rout as the Bears outscored Cardinal (0-1, 0-1) 51-18 over the final three quarters.
Cardinal?s Jonathan Pedersen led the team with eight points and four rebounds.
Holy Trinity 48, MSAE 5
FORT MADISON ? Maharishi School fell behind 17-3 after the first quarter and Holy Trinity never let up as the Pioneers dropped the season opener 48-5 Tuesday night.
Thomas Weiss led the Pioneers with three points. Paul DeAngelis and Surya Sawhney had one point apiece. Dillon Evertsen and Rashan Anderson led the team in rebounding.
The Pioneers will next play Friday at home vs. New London inside the MSAE Fieldhouse.
