Mt. Pleasant tennis wins just one match in loss to Fort Madison

FORT MADISON — The Mt. Pleasant girls tennis team still is looking for its first team win after a loss to Fort Madison last Thursday.
Mt. Pleasant finished with just one win on the day, falling by a score of 8-1.
The Panthers No. 6, Audrey Richmond picked up her first ever varsity win with an 8-4 victory over the Bloodhound’s Madelyn Gobble.
Ellie Situmeang was defeated in the No. 1 match 8-1 by Fort Madison’s Molly Knipe.
Mary Kate Peterson was topped in the No. 2 match by Brianna Wright 8-4.
In the No. 3 match, Eva Rounceville was bested by Lauren Otte 8-0.
Victoria Smith was defeated by Naudia Ruston 8-3 in the No. 4 match.
Bethany Drury lost a battle to Fort Madison’s Makenna Pixler 9-7.
In doubles, Situmeang and Rounceville were swept 8-0 by Knipe and Otte.
The duo of Peterson and Smith fell to Wright and Ruston 8-2.
In the No. 3 doubles match, Drury and Richmond came up short in a tight knit match, 9-7 (7-1) to Pixler and Gobble.
Mt. Pleasant will take on Fairfield at home on Monday, April 10. By the release of this story, that matchup will have been completed.
