Panther girls, Demon boys win in MP
Busy day at Denny White Relays ends with team victories for area teams

MT. PLEASANT — It was a great night for the 2025 Denny White Relays at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex on Thursday, and two area teams walked out with victories.
The Panther girls protected the home track by scoring 187 points, for first place. The Washington boys survived a competitive field to win by six points, with a final total of 82.
The Mt. Pleasant girls had a laundry list of victories, including five relay wins. The sprint medley team of Ellie Freeman, Kynlee White, Alex Scott and Kiyah Sanders won, as did the 4X800 team of Bella Dodds, Monroe James, Molly Baker and Quintree Lee.
The Shuttle hurdle team of Hayden Yoder, Linzy Striegel, Taylor Williamson and Abigail Shelangoski crossed first, as did the 4X100 squad of Sanders, Scott, Williamson and White.
Scott took the 100-meter dash title for the Panthers. Dodds won the 400-meter dash. White won the 200-meter dash, and Striegel won both the 400-meter hurdles and the long jump.
The rest of the area wins came in boys competition, two coming from Washington's Josh Anderson in both the 101-meter and 401-meter wheelchair races. The Demons also got a win out of Grayson Hartman in the shot put.
Fairfield's Spencer McCready, Blake Burnett, Dylan Adam and Ryan Giberson took first place in the shuttle hurdle relay. Gabe Tejada won the 800-meter run.
The Mt. Pleasant boys had two wins, both by Avin Truong. He took the 110-meter high hurdles and the long jump.
Winfield-Mount Union's sprint medley team of Cruz Hagmeier, Lane Genkinger, Shaeden Adams and Kohlby Newsom won, as did the distance medley quartet of Jake Edwards, Genkinger, Adams and Newsom. Newsom also won the 1600.
New London had one win on the day. The 4X100 team of Cale Westerbeck, Gavin Strawhacker, Brigham Porter and London Franklin crossed the line first.
