MEDIAPOLIS — The Mt. Pleasant girls soccer team traveled to Mediapolis for its first game of the 2025 high school girls soccer season. The Panthers and Bullettes ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Panthers went on top 1-0 with a goal in the first half, as Tori Wilson opened up the scoring with a goal, assisted by Charice Auwerda.
Mt. Pleasant led 1-0 at halftime but Mediapolis’ Katelyn Campbell scored the equalizer in the second half.
The draw may be a sign of things to come this soccer season. Iowa high school soccer games will now end in a tie instead of going to overtime, both for non-conference and conference games.
The Panthers are now 0-0-1 to start the season. Mt. Pleasant will host Clear-Creek Amana in the home opener on Thursday night.
