KEOKUK - Friday, the Mt. Pleasant girls couldn't avenge their previous basketball loss to Keokuk. The Panthers shot ice cold in the first half and couldn't recover in a 49-31 Southeast Conference loss.
Keokuk jumped out to an early lead and never trailed. The Chiefs took a 13-6 advantage after the first quarter, led 25-12 at halftime and held a 32-24 lead heading into the fourth quarter after Mt. Pleasant battled back to cut it to single digits.
Andrea Lopreato scored more than half of Mt. Pleasant's points in the loss. She ended the night with 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Panthers.
The Panther girls bounced back on Saturday to defeat Mediapolis 70-44 in a nonconference game. They are now 9-8 overall and 4-4 in conference play, and will host No. 11 (Class 1A) Notre Dame tonight.
