Panther girls fall in Keokuk

KEOKUK - The Mt. Pleasant girls' basketball team couldn't keep up with the first-place Keokuk Chiefs in a Southeast Conference road game on Friday night. Keokuk ran out to an early lead and never looked back, knocking off the Panthers 60-33.
Keokuk showed why their team is undefeated in SEC play, putting up 15 points in the first quarter and holding the Panthers to six. The Chiefs won the second quarter 18-9 to stretch their lead to double-digits at halftime, 33-15.
Keokuk continued to put points up in the third and fourth quarters. The Chiefs won the second half 27-18 to knock the Panthers off for the second time this season.
No Mt. Pleasant players reached double figures in scoring. Lydia Stewart led Mt. Pleasant with nine points in the loss. Maddie Williamson added seven.
The Panthers fell to 2-12 overall and 2-4 in the conference. They'll host Notre Dame tonight (Monday) in their first of four-straight home games.
