Panther girls own Falcon relays

WEST BURLINGTON - The Mt. Pleasant girls' track and field team stayed hot on Tuesday night in West Burlington, winning the Falcon relays with 171 points. The Panthers had 10 wins on the day to steal the show in their first indoor meet.
In the field events, Lexie Magnani continued to keep her early-season streak alive by winning the shot put competition. Magnani threw a 42-4 to take the top spot.
Mt. Pleasant won four events in a row to start the track portion of the event. The crew of Kenna Lamm, Karsyn Lamm, Avery Sutter and Maggie Cristoforo took the sprint medley relay, finishing in 1:56.01, and Abby Ryon followed with a victory in the 3000-meter run, crossing the tape in 10:41.76.
Mt. Pleasant took the 4X800 as well. The team of Monroe OSwain, Cristina Carthey, Abby Blint and Maggie Jennings won that race in 11:03.39.
The shuttle hurdle relay team made it four-in-a-row with a win of their own. The squad of Maddie Williamson, Jenna Gilmore, Serenity Keomanivong and Karsyn Lamm took first in 1:12.79.
Later in the meet it was Gilmore, Kenna, Cristoforo and Sutter who picked up a victory in the 4X200-meter relay. They crossed the line in 1:55.64.
Jennings added another win in the 800-meter run. She crossed the line in 2:35.33 to take the top spot.
Cristoforo took the 400-meter hurdles in 68.68. Ryon followed that performance with a victory in the 1500, finishing in 5:16.22.
The final win of the day went to the 4X400 team of Kendall Dascher, Ralyn Seberg, Jennings and Kenna. They finished that race in 4:31.79.
There were also three second-place finishes on the day for Mt. Pleasant. Jadan Brumbaugh was second in the shot put with a throw of 34-4. Williamson took second in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing in 17.9 seconds, and Carthey was second in the 800-meter run, with a final time of 2:43.38.
The Panthers will be back on the track for their first home meet of the year on Thursday, March 28. That will be a co-ed meet.
