Panther girls smoke Wapello, Mediapolis

MEDIAPOLIS - The Mt. Pleasant soccer team is coming in to Thursday night's regional opener fresh off a couple of blowout wins. The Panthers mercy ruled Wapello 10-0 on Thursday night in Mt. Pleasant, and kept the scoring up on Monday in Mediapolis with a 7-1 victory.
The Panthers ended Thursday's game against Wapello just a handful of minutes into the game. Mary West had three goals to lead the Panthers to victory.
Stydney Doak, Hannah Hess, Lizzie Litchfield, Kalyssa Longhurst, Thanh Phung, Regan Seberg and Chloe Warner all had one goal in the 10-0 victory. Doak added an assist, and both Amber Fiedler and Anna Ostby had assists as well.
On Monday, May 20 West went off again, this time scoring four goals and adding one assist to lead the team.
Kendin Scheitlin ended the day with two goals as well. Doak finished with one goal. Kaela Welcher, Ostby and Seberg each had one assist in the game.
The Panther girls moved to 12-4 overall after the two wins. They'll begin their postseason run on Thursday, May 23, when they host conference rival Fairfield in the first round of regionals.
