Panther girls soccer bumps Ottumwa
Auwerda, Wilson both score in non-conference road win

OTTUMWA — The Mt. Pleasant girls soccer team won its last regular season game of the year on Monday, taking a 2-1 win at Ottumwa in non-conference play.
The Panthers and Bulldogs fought to a scoreless tie through the first 40 minutes. At halftime, it was all knotted up at 0-0.
Mt. Pleasant scored the first goal of the second half. Ottumwa tied the game a few minutes later, but the Panthers scored one more before the game was over.
Charice Auwerda scored one goal on the day. Tori Wilson had a goal. Elly Manning and Sonya Simon each notched an assist.
Eli Heaton faced some heat in net, but wound up with eight saves, while only allowing one goal.
Mt. Pleasant finished the regular season 10-5. The Panthers will host a 1-10 Maquoketa team in the first round of the Class 2A Region 3 tournament on Thursday night.
