Panther girls stay unbeaten in SEC

FAIRFIELD - The No. 14 Mt. Pleasant girls' soccer team look well on their way to wrapping up their second-straight Southeast Conference championship. The Panthers finished the sweep of Fairfield on Thursday, topping the Trojans 3-1 on their own field.
The Panthers took the lead in the first half on a goal by Kaela Welcher. Welcher tapped the ball into the net on a corner kick that gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
Mary West scored the second goal in the first half. She dinged one out off the post, putting the hosting Trojans in a 2-0 hole.
Fairfield scored off a free kick early in the second half to cut the lead to 2-1, but Lizzie Litchfield responded with a score on a corner kick to bring the lead back to 3-1. That's where the score would stay until the final buzzer.
Mt. Pleasant moved to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the conferencce They could put an even bigger stranglehold on things when they host Keokuk on Monday.
