Panther girls storm back in soccer, boys fall

Both Mt. Pleasant soccer teams found themselves down 2-0 against Burlington in Southeast Conference play, and only one could climb back. The Panther girls staged a second-half comeback to beat the Grayhounds 4-2. The boys fell 2-0.
In Mt. Pleasant, a pair of Burlington freshmen put the Grayhounds up 2-0 in the first half. Kevynn Siefken and Josephine Blazic each scored to give the Grayhounds an early boost.
The second half was all Panthers. Mt. Pleasant sophomore Andrea Lopreato scored three times and fellow sophomore Elly Manning found the back of the net once.
Emma Pieper was in net for Mt. Pleasant and finished the night with nine saves.
The Panther boys were in a scoreless tie at halftime, but the Grayhounds scored two goals in the second half. Burlington seniors Tyrese Lee and Diego Trevizo scored the only goals of the match.
Mt. Pleasant’s Logan Lee made 12 saves in net.
The Mt. Pleasant girls are now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in SEC play. The’ll travel to Fort Madison today. The Panther boys (1-4, 1-2) will host the Bloodhounds.
