Panther girls’ tennis wins in Keokuk

KEOKUK - The Mt. Pleasant girls' tennis team moved to 2-2 this season with a 7-2 win over Southeast Conference rival Keokuk on Monday.
The Panthers won five of the six singles matches, dropping only the No. 1 match where Keokuk's Keleigh Hall took down Erin Zihlman.
Hallie Sandeen won the No. 2 singles match, beating Emma Evans 8-3. Breanna Runyon won the No. 3 match 8-2 over Kierra Huddleston.
Sierra Barton swept Julia De Gala 8-0 in the No. 3 singles match. Olivia Larson took the No. 4 match 8-1 against Delaynee Billings, and Madecyn Anderson swept Willow Carrington 8-0 in the No. 6 match for her first ever varsity win.
The Panthers won two doubles matches. Barton and Larson took the No. 2 doubles match 8-1 against Huddelston and De Gala, and the No. 3 team of Runyon and Anderson took down Billings and Carrington 8-1.
The lone doubles loss went to Zihlman and Sandeen. They dropped a tight one to Hall and Evans, falling 8-6.
Mt. Pleasant went 3-0 in junior varsity play, getting three singles wins from Samantha Broeker. She swept three Keokuk players; Lucy Deacon, Jasmine Saunders and Nevaeh Poindexter, beating them all 6-0.
The Panthers will be back on the road on Thursday, April 11, when they travel to Fairfield for another SEC match.
