Panther girls win at FM track meet
Mt. Pleasant, Washington go 1-2 in Class A, Cardinal takes 3rd in Class B

FORT MADISON — Area girls’ track teams went at it in Fort Madison in a 19-team meet. Three area teams had Top-3 finishes in the meet, which was split up into two classes.
Mt. Pleasant and Washington went first and second in Class A. The Panthers had five winning events, and the Demons finished with three.
Kynlee White had the lone solo track win for the Panthers, winning the 200-meter dash in 26.90 seconds. The 4X100 team of Kiyah Sanders, White, Alex Scott and Andi Scott took first, in 1:47.30, and the 4X200 quartet of Courtney Raub, Alex Scott, White and Andi Scott took the top spot, in 1:47.30.
Mt. Pleasant had two wins in the field. Bailey Jalas won the long jump in 16 feet, 3 inches, and Kya Goodrich threw the discus 116 feet, 6 inches.
Mt. Pleasant had three runners up. Alex Scott was second in the 100-meter dash. The 4X800 team of Jalas, White, Alex Scott and Raub took second, and Savannah Slobodnik took silver in the discus.
Washington's three winners were all in the field. Iris Dahl won the 800-meter run, in 2:25.05. Ryen Pepper won the 400-meter hurdles, in 1:10.63, and the 4X800 team of Abigail Kleese, Kendall Hinrichsen, Emma Horak and Iris Dahl finishedin 10:21.79.
Messinger took second in the 100-meter hurdles for the Demons. The Washington shuttle hurdle team of Pepper, Leighton Salazar, Hinrichsen and Messinger took silver as well.
Fairfield had one winner and one second-place finisher. Samantha Lyons took first in the 400-meter dash, crossing the tape in 1:03.57, and Carley Seeley took second in the 3000.
In Class B, Cardinal used a three-win day to take third in Class B. Leading the Comets was Addison Adam, who won both the 100-meter dash, in 12.91 seconds, and the 200-meter dash, in 26.88 seconds.
Cynthia Albert won the Class B discus throw. She hurled the discus 93 feet, 3 inches.
Finishing second for the Comets was Ashlyn Patrick in the 100-meter dash, Emarie Finch in the 100-meter hurdles, Emma Becker in the long jump, and Albert in the shot put throw.
Van Buren County took fourth place in Class B, finishing the day with one win and two second places.
Kayley Snowgren took first in the 800-meter run for the Warriors, crossing in 2:39.77. Emma Coffin took second in the 200-meter dash, and Ashley Fennel took silver in the 3000-meter run.
Winfield-Mount Union won three events and finished fifth in Class B. Tessa Huston took first in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing in 1:12.38. Huston, Aurey Meeker, Suttyn Schlee and Josie Nelson were tops in the 4X100-meter relay, and Quin Smith cleared 5 feet in the high jump to take gold.
Highland took seventh in Class B and had one winner. Mackenzie Davis won the 100-meter hurdles, crossing in 18.05 seconds.
New London didn’t have any Top-2 finishes. The Tigers took eighth place in Class B.
