Panther netters pick up win in SEISC play

LONE TREE ? Pekin received contributions up and down the lineup en route to a three-set win against SEISC north?s Lone Tree Thursday.

The Panthers blasted out to a 25-10 first-set win before putting away Lone Tree with 25-14 and 25-21 victories in the second and third games.

?We played as a team with everyone covering and swinging big,? said Pekin head coach Ashley Bartels. ?It was great to see all 16 girls contribute to the win in many different ways.?

Maranda Baker led the way from the net with 12 kills and two blocks. The Pekin senior also served up six aces. Cheyann Lankford totaled 11 kills, four blocks and five aces, while Madelyn Baker and Jacinta Cooley had five kills each.

Pekin setter Leslie Stone distributed 23 assists and recorded four aces. Brittany Gillam came through with nine digs.

The Panthers (5-8, 2-0 SEISC north) will host Wapello Tuesday.
