MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant boys soccer team had scored just three goals in its first eight games, but they doubled that total on Monday night in Keokuk.
The Panthers ran roughshod on the hometown Chiefs, winning the Southeast Conference matchup 6-0 to earn a regular-season sweep.
The Panthers scored two goals in the first half, and exploded for four in the second half, all while holding Keokuk to just four shots on goal.
Rumaldo Motta Rivera had himself a game, scoring four goals on just five shots on goal. He entered Monday without any goals on the year and is now tied for the team lead.
Dillon Malone and Hunter Stearns each scored one goal. Joe Holtkamp dished out three assists, and Angel Avila had one assist.
Logan Lee spent all 80 minutes in net and had four saves on the day. This was his second shutout of the year.
Mt. Pleasant is 2-7 overall and 2-4 in SEC play. They host Fairfield on Thursday.
