Panther Profile: Medow Jensen

Medow Jensen is a senior at Mt. Pleasant high school and a member of the Panther bowling team.

Jensen has been with the Panther bowling team for two years. She was a regular on the varsity girls' squad, and helped the team to its second-place finish in the Southeast Conference by rolling a 253 at the SEC meet.

Jensen met with The News on Thursday after school.

Did you grow up in Mt. Pleasant? No, I did not.

Where'd you grow up at? In Mediapolis in Burlington.

How long have you been bowling? I've been bowling for two years now.

What got you in to it? My friend Rachel. She just told me, 'Let's try it!” So we did.

Did you like it at first or did it take you a little while to warm up to it? It took me until like, this year to warm up to it. Then I started liking it.

Do you remember the first time you went just for fun? I really didn't bowl until like, this year pretty much. I went a few times when I was young.

Have you made plans for after high school? Not for sure. I know I'm going to college. Probably like, SCC.

What is the team like when you guys put together a few strikes in a row? Are you guys pretty loud or just relaxed? I'd say a medium. We're not that loud, but we're excited.

Do you have any irrational fears? I'd say snakes.

Do you have any nicknames? Yes, I do. I have a nickname that's ‘mee-dow' instead of Medow, and then ‘Do.'

When you aren't at school or practice, what can we find you doing? I work a lot. I work at Hy-Vee and I work for a patient in Burlington.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? I don't know … Maybe Mexican food.

What is your favorite movie? I'd probably say Divergent.

Are you a morning person or a night person? I'm a night person.

Are you one of those kids that kind of struggles to get up out of bed? Yep!

If you could hang out with one celebrity for a day, who would it be? Demi Lovato.

That was a quick answer. Yep!

Why would you pick her? She's just inspirational. She's my favorite celebrity.

What would you guys do? I don't know, probably just see what she does in her normal life. Just go with her.

Do you think if she wanted you to get on a track, could you step up and lend your vocals? Probably not (laughing).

What if you could pick a superpower to have? Probably to read minds. That would be pretty cool.

Favorite teacher? I'd probably say Mrs. Butler. She just has great energy. She's really nice, and she's a great teacher.

Any shout outs? I'd say shout out to my mother. She does a lot for us.
