Mt. Pleasant soccer suffered a pair of defeats on Monday night with matchups against Fort Madison.
The Panther boys were topped by the Bloodhounds 5-1, while the girls were shutout 7-0.
On the boys’ side, it was all Fort Madison early. The Bloodhounds scored once within the first two minutes and once more 10 minutes later to take a 2-0 advantage.
That ended up being more than enough for the Bloodhounds.
Mt. Pleasant did well to thwart a slew of Bloodhound runs midway through the first, but Fort Madison broke through once more before the end of the half to push it to 3-0.
Mt. Pleasant was able to break one open in the second off the foot of Jackson Newman, but that’s all they could muster. On the contrary, Fort Madison went on to add two more to its total in the second.
Along with Newman’s one goal, Aiden Humble had one assist. Xachary LeBlanc finished with eight saves.
Mt. Pleasant drops to 3-9 overall and 3-6 in SEC play.
As for the Panther girls, Fort Madison jumped out to a 3-0 lead early and would never waiver.
The Bloodhounds topped their first half total in the second, scoring an additional four on their way to the win.
With the loss, Mt. Pleasant falls to 6-5 overall and 6-4 in SEC play.
